Booking & contactAbout
Tazim Sheikh is an award-winning jazz pianist, composer, and producer based in Mumbai, originally hailing from Kolkata. A pioneering force in the "Ethno Jazz" genre, Tazim seamlessly fuses the complex meters and traditional ragas of Hindustani classical music—such as Patdeep, Todi, and Charukeshi—with Western progressive jazz harmonies. His unique sonic tapestry bridges cultural divides, establishing him as a compelling, innovative voice in the contemporary Indian music landscape.
His formal foundation was built at the prestigious KM Music Conservatory in Chennai, where he studied and later served as a faculty member. Tazim's performance career is marked by notable accolades, including first place at the 2021 Brillante International Piano Festival and a recent victory as a category winner at the 2026 Intercontinental Music Awards. Following the release of his debut EP DWAM and his successful 2026 Poems Without Words tour across premier venues like Skinny Mo's and The Piano Man Jazz Club, he is currently arranging and producing an ambitious 10-track concept album that weaves a jazz trio with traditional Indian instrumentation.
Beyond the stage and the studio, Tazim is a passionate educator with over seven years of teaching experience. Having mentored over 200 students across classroom, online, and private settings, his dedication to both pushing musical boundaries and nurturing young talent defines his multifaceted artistry.
